Lorraine Bennett has led university-wide learning and teaching centres at Monash University, the University of Ballarat and Federation University Australia. She has designed, delivered and evaluated Graduate Certificates for Tertiary Teaching and attracted over $4.5 million in grants for leadership and professional development projects.
Initially, her interest in neuroscience and learning was informed by Brown (2008 and 2010), Willis (2006 and 2007), Doidge (2010) and Hardiman (2012). She has presented at several national and international conferences on neuroscience and education and developed a series of learning artefacts to use in staff professional development and teacher education courses.
In 2015, she established a consultancy with the NeuroSmart brand as an umbrella concept for professional development programs that are based on neuroscience and draw upon extensive scholarship and experience in learning and teaching. NeuroSmart modules have been developed on NeuroSmart Learning, NeuroSmart Teaching, NeuroSmart Leadership and NeuroSmart Parenting. NeuroSmart Management; NeuroSmart Curriculum Design; NeuroSmart Assessment; NeuroSmart Teamwork; NeuroSmart Learning Spaces; NeuroSmart Innovation; and, NeuroSmart Education Futures.
Lorraine is passionate about the importance of learning from the ‘cradle to the grave’.
