Chief Executive Officer at Western Sydney University, The College
My career in higher education commenced at my alma mater, the University of Johannesburg (then Rand Afrikaans University) in 2000. I completed my BA Ed, BA Honours (Human Resource Development) and Masters degree at UJ. I submitted my doctoral thesis in Higher Education Management at the University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom, anxiously awaiting the final result.
After about 5 years at a large public institution, I was recruited to Monash South Africa (MSA), where I worked for almost 12 years. The campus was founded and established by Monash University (Go8) in 2001. It grew from about 200 students when I joined, to over 4000 when I left. I served MSA in various roles, most recently as Chief Operating Officer. My years at Monash also extensively exposed me to the Australian regulatory context, ensuring compliance across different jurisdictions.
Laureate International Universities acquired shares in the campus in 2013 and this introduced to me to a vibrant, innovative, multinational education company and extended my international higher education management experience beyond South Africa and Australia. Today, the Laureate network consists of over 70 institutions offering degrees to over 1 million students around the world, spanning 25 countries. Laureate afforded me the opportunity to relocate to Sydney in May 2016.
I am currently holding the role of Vice President, Student Administration. I am also responsible for the implementation of Banner as the new SIS constitutes the backbone of the administrative shared services center.
